Work Package 5: Emerging Infections Preparedness and COVID-19

This work package focuses on facilitating specialised trainings to hone the skills of epidemiologists and clinicians in rapid response preparedness and clinical safety and supporting partner laboratories involved in optimising diagnostic techniques and using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for sequencing Covid-19 strains. These are inspired by the lessons drawn from the Ebola epidemic in 2014 and the COVID-19 pandemic. Led by Institut Pasteur de Dakar, the activities of this work package seek to achieve the following objectives:
1. To strengthen capacities in clinical response and laboratory diagnostic systems for effective disease surveillance and control
2. To facilitate investigations into the impact of comorbidity with emerged covid-19
